National University of Technology
Interactive 3D campus tour increasing international student applications by 35%.
All case studiesThe National University of Technology, situated on a 50-acre campus in southern India, sought to expand its international student intake and attract out-of-state applicants from across India. However, campus visits were impractical for the majority of prospective students — international applicants faced visa and travel costs, while domestic students from distant states found it difficult to justify the expense of visiting before applying. The university's existing digital presence consisted of static photos and PDF brochures, which failed to convey the scale and quality of the campus facilities.
Cydez created a fully interactive, browser-based 3D campus tour using Three.js and React Three Fiber. The entire 50-acre campus was modelled in Blender — 22 buildings including academic blocks, laboratories, libraries, hostels, sports facilities, cafeterias, and green spaces. Students navigate freely using click-to-move and drag-to-look controls, with 360-degree views from any point on campus.
Information hotspots embedded throughout the tour provide course details, faculty profiles, lab equipment inventories, and embedded video testimonials from current students. The tour is fully responsive — optimised for desktop, tablet, and mobile browsers with no app download required. The university embedded the tour on its admissions page, and Cydez packaged it as a standalone kiosk experience for deployment at 12 international education fairs.

A university wanted to attract international and out-of-state students but campus visits were impractical for most prospective applicants. Static photos and brochures could not convey the scale and facilities of a 50-acre campus.
Cydez created a browser-based interactive 3D campus tour using Three.js and React Three Fiber — no app download required. Students explore buildings, labs, hostels, and sports facilities with 360-degree navigation, embedded video testimonials, and course information hotspots.

How we delivered this project
Asset Survey
Conducted a 2-week campus survey with drone photography, ground-level photography, and architectural drawing collection. Catalogued all 22 buildings, outdoor facilities, and landscaping features. Interviewed department heads to gather content for information hotspots.
3D Production
Modelled the full campus in Blender with LOD (Level of Detail) optimisation for browser performance. Textured buildings using photogrammetry reference. Created interior models for 8 key buildings — main library, 3 lab blocks, auditorium, sports complex, flagship hostel, and admin building.
Development & Integration
Built the interactive 3D tour using Three.js and React Three Fiber with custom navigation controls. Implemented information hotspots with course content, video embeds, and faculty profiles. Created the kiosk mode for education fair deployment with auto-play guided tour option.
Testing & Deployment
Performance-tested on low-end devices to ensure 30+ FPS on 3-year-old smartphones. User-tested with 50 prospective students for navigation intuitiveness and content relevance. Deployed on the university admissions page and packaged kiosk versions for 12 education fairs across 6 countries.
What we built
Interactive 3D Campus Navigation
Freely explore a 50-acre campus with 22 buildings in your browser. Click-to-move navigation, drag-to-look 360-degree views, and minimap orientation — no app download required.
Building Interiors
8 key buildings modelled with interior walkthroughs — main library, 3 lab blocks, auditorium, sports complex, flagship hostel, and admin building. See equipment, seating, and facility details up close.
Information Hotspots
Clickable hotspots throughout the tour providing course details, faculty profiles, lab equipment inventories, placement statistics, and embedded video testimonials from current students.
Guided Tour Mode
Auto-play guided tour following a curated campus route with voiceover narration. Ideal for education fair kiosks and website visitors who prefer a structured experience.
Responsive Multi-Device Support
Optimised for desktop, tablet, and mobile browsers with adaptive quality settings. Maintains 30+ FPS on 3-year-old smartphones without compromising visual quality on desktop.
Education Fair Kiosk Mode
Standalone kiosk packaging with auto-play, touch-screen navigation, and branding customisation. Deployed at 12 international education fairs across 6 countries.

Measurable outcomes
- 35% increase in international student applications
- 50,000+ virtual campus visits in the first academic year
- Average tour session time of 6.5 minutes (3x vs photo gallery)
- Embedded in 12 education fair virtual booths globally
