The startup needed a platform that could handle 50,000 concurrent learners, deliver proctored online exams with anti-cheating measures (browser lockdown, webcam monitoring, and tab-switch detection), provide personalised learning paths based on performance analytics, and offer a native mobile experience for students who primarily accessed content on smartphones. Off-the-shelf LMS platforms (Moodle, Canvas, Thinkific) could not meet the combination of scale, proctoring rigour, and customisation requirements within the startup's Series A budget.
Cydez built the platform from scratch with a React web application, Flutter mobile app, and Node.js backend deployed on AWS with auto-scaling infrastructure. The system included adaptive bitrate video streaming via CloudFront, AI-proctored examinations with real-time violation detection, a personalised learning engine that recommended content based on topic-level performance gaps, and a real-time leaderboard with gamification mechanics (streaks, badges, weekly challenges) that improved daily active usage by 40%.

How we delivered this project
Discovery

Design
