The platform was built from the ground up by Cydez Technologies in collaboration with a team of estate planning attorneys, UX researchers, and compliance advisors.
The core challenge was translating an inherently complex legal process — one that varies across 50 states — into a guided, intuitive digital experience that non-legal users could complete in under an hour. The platform needed to handle sensitive personal and medical information under HIPAA compliance, support attorney collaboration workflows, and provide a secure encrypted vault for document storage that families could access across generations.
Cydez designed a structured interview engine that adapts its questions based on user responses, state-specific legal requirements, and family structure. The generated documents are reviewed against a continuously updated legal rule database. Integration with DocuSign enables remote witnessing and notarization in states that permit it. The encrypted vault uses AES-256 encryption with family-controlled access keys, ensuring that documents remain accessible to designated beneficiaries.

Millions of Americans delay writing a will because the process is perceived as complex, expensive, and requires an in-person attorney visit. Will & More needed a digital platform that would make will creation accessible, guided, and legally sound — without sacrificing compliance.
Cydez designed and built a comprehensive digital estate planning platform. The application guides users through a structured interview process, generates legally compliant will documents automatically, and provides a secure encrypted vault for storage. Attorney collaboration tools allow users to optionally involve a licensed attorney for review. The platform is HIPAA-compliant and hosted on AWS with end-to-end encryption.
How we delivered this project
Discovery
Conducted user research with 200+ individuals who had delayed estate planning. Mapped legal requirements across 50 states with a panel of estate planning attorneys. Defined HIPAA compliance requirements and encryption standards.
Design
Designed the adaptive interview engine UX through 6 rounds of usability testing. Created empathetic, non-intimidating visual language for sensitive topics. Built prototypes for attorney collaboration and family vault access flows.
Development
Built the React frontend with Node.js backend on AWS. Implemented the adaptive question engine, state-specific legal rule database, DocuSign API integration, and AES-256 encrypted vault. Completed HIPAA compliance audit and penetration testing.
Launch
Launched in 12 states initially, expanding to all 50 states within 6 months. Onboarded 45 partner attorneys for optional review services. Achieved TechCrunch and Forbes coverage within the first quarter.

AES-256 encrypted storage for wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives. Family-controlled access keys with multi-generational inheritance.
Attorney Collaboration
Optional attorney review workflow where licensed estate planning attorneys can review, annotate, and approve generated documents within the platform.
DocuSign Integration
Remote signing and witnessing capabilities via DocuSign. Supports remote online notarization in states that permit it. Full audit trail for legal validity.
Healthcare Directive Builder
HIPAA-compliant healthcare directive and medical power of attorney creation with secure sharing to designated healthcare proxies and medical providers.
